Volunteer
At the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the CureŽ, volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. Through involvement in our Komen Puget Sound Race for the CureŽ, volunteers significantly contribute to the Komen promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
When I was diagnosed, my daughter was only two. When I volunteer for the Race, I’m doing it for myself, but also for her, because I want to show my daughter that we have the power to change the world. I know that my work on the Race makes a difference, and the Komen volunteers are so fun to work with that I often forget that it’s work at all.

Every event organized throughout the year by Komen Puget Sound, such as the Komen Race for the Cure, would not be possible without the generosity of spirit of hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Komen was founded on the ideal of being volunteer driven and is now admired world-wide as such. You can make a difference!

Volunteers are essential to the success of the Race, and participate in every aspect of event production. Individuals, families, and groups of all sizes are welcome.
Many Race volunteers give their time in the months, weeks, or days leading up to the event, and are still able to participate in the event as a runner or a walker. Others choose to volunteer at the event itself, and forgo walking or running. Whether you can commit a few hours or many, your time and participation in the Race is needed and appreciated.
Volunteers are also encouraged to register for and raise pledges for the Race. Let your friends and family know that you are putting your time into this important cause, and ask them to do the same, either through donations or though joining you as a volunteer.
