Teams are the heart and soul of Race Day!
Teams not only contribute to the event’s spirit and sense of community, but they are also our most effective fundraisers. Last year more than half of all Race participants belonged to a team and raised 82% of all donations beyond registration fees.
This year, by asking friends, family and business associates for their support, teams will help us reach our fundraising goal of $2 million—money that will be used to save lives every day by providing immediate service and care to women in our state, and by energizing the science to find the cures for breast cancer.

What is a Team?

Teams are a fun and easy way for groups of friends, family members, business associates and organizations to build camaraderie, celebrate life, and make a difference in the fight to end breast cancer forever!  Teams consist of runners and walkers participating in the same or different events and include males and females, Sleep in for the CureŽ participants and registered children of all ages.

Rain or shine, your team will join more than 15,000 participants to celebrate and honor breast cancer survivors and to remember friends and family who have lost their fight against breast cancer.

Forming a Team is as Easy as 1- 2- 3!

Step 1 Select a Team Captain and a Team Name
The team captain must first register the team name online under Form A New Team before team members can begin registration.  Next choose a team category.
The choices are:

-Friends & Family

- Corporation/Company Team (friends and family may join a corporate team)

-School/College/University (includes K-12, public and private)

-Non-Profit/Community Groups (church groups and associations that are not for profit.)

-Health Care/Medical.

Once this step is completed, team members can start registering online!

Step 2 Start Recruiting Team Members: Online Registration is highly recommended!
Online registration is encouraged: it’s easier for you, your team members, the environment and us. Plus, you save $5 by registering online instead of using paper registration  online registration provides Team Captains with the tools to communicate with and manage their team.  Use the tools in your online Race Center to send emails to potential team members with instructions on how to register and join your team.

Online registration also allows each team member to create a personalized website for setting goals and collecting pledges. You can post pictures and stories about your team, start a blog and send emails from your site. Online registration is the way to go!  Log into your Race Center now to start recruiting for your team!

Paper registration is also an option, with downloadable forms available.  However, it costs $5 more, and the number of team participants and funds raised will not be reflected on the website immediately. Download a Registration Form

Team Captains are responsible for collecting and submitting paper registration forms to the Komen Puget Sound office with a post-mark no later than Saturday May 24 to be eligible for Team T-shirt Pick-up. All team and individual participant paper registrations are due by Friday June 6.

Step 3 - Encourage Fundraising Now
Our fundraising goal for the 15th Annual Komen Puget Sound Race for the Cure is $2 million.  With your help as Team Captain, along with the help and enthusiasm of your dedicated team members, we hope to exceed the $2 million goal!  If each Race participant raises $150, more than $2.5 million would be raised to fund breast health education, screening and treatment programs for underserved women in our community.

Challenge each team member to raise at least $150 and help create a world without breast cancer!  Start collecting pledges now using your Race Center, or collect pledges in person by clicking here to download your paper Pledge Tracking Form.
