Welcome Survivors!
We are pleased to continue many of the features that you have come to enjoy.
Hey Survivors,
Is this your 15th Race for the Cure? Do you have pictures of you at the 1993 Race? I’d love to hear from you and share my ideas for the 2008 Race. I would also love to hear from our male breast cancer survivors. Please contact me, jeri@pskomen.org.
"Losing my breasts, my hair, and my health during cancer treatment left me feeling battered and uninspired. Seeing the other survivors at the Race, however, filled me with hope and confidence. As I looked at the ribbon of walkers and runners on the viaduct, especially those in pink shirts, and thought about their commitment to ending breast cancer and to helping women like me, I felt my old spirit return. I’m committed to doing the Race every year now, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world." -Kristina, Breast Cancer Survivor and Race Participant 2006, 2007, and 2008

As a “new” survivor, I wasn’t sure what to think of the Survivor Parade, but it was one of the highlights of my year. When a group of beautiful ladies marched in with the “25+ years” survivor sign, I wept with joy, hugged my preschool aged daughter, and promised her that I would try to march with them one day. It was a time to reflect on all I’ve been through, to pause for friends that I’ve lost in the battle, and to feel great hope for my future. Kristina, survivor
