Your participation in the 2008 Komen Puget Sound Race for the CureŽ is the first step towards a world without breast cancer!  Now is time to start raising pledge dollars.

Fundraise online by accessing your Race Center or download the Pledge Tracking Form and send it to friends, family and coworkers.  We encourage runners and walkers to collect pledges.  In fact, we challenge each participant to raise at least $150 which is the approximate cost of a life-saving mammogram for an underserved woman.

Where Your Money Goes

By raising pledges in addition to your participation in the Race, you will have a positive impact on more than 4,000 Western Washington women and men diagnosed with breast cancer this year alone.  Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage from the causes, to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in between.

Approximately 75% of the Puget Sound Race for the Cure's net income remains in the local community to fund educational outreach, screening and treatment programs for underserved women and men.  The remaining net income (a minimum of 25 percent) supports the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.

To learn more about how the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure's funds are used, please visit our Komen Grants page to read about our Affiliate Grants.

Fundraising by Mail-In/Paper Pledge Form

Use the pledge sheet in the Race entry form or paper pledge form. List donations on the pledge form and fill in the total amount.

If you are collecting donations, please have friends and family give cash and check donations directly to YOU, with your name indicated in the memo field of checks (DO NOT mail credit card numbers).  Make checks payable to: Puget Sound Race for the Cure.

Komen Puget Sound Race for the Cure
1900 N. Northlake Way, Suite 135
Seattle, WA 98103

Individual Race participants will receive credit on their online fundraising "thermometer" once donations have been received and entered in the Race office.   Please allow approximately 7 days for processing by the Komen Puget Sound office.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND INDIVIDUAL PLEDGE CHECKS DIRECTLY TO THE KOMEN PUGET SOUND/RACE OFFICE.  THESE ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO TRACK AND CREDIT TO THE APPROPRIATE PARTICIPANTS CORRECTLY.  PLEASE GIVE YOUR PLEDGE DONATIONS TO THE PARTICIPANT YOU ARE SUPPORTING SO THEY CAN TURN THEM IN WITH A COMPLETED PLEDGE TRACKING FORM.  THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Matching Gifts/Company Matching Funds

Did you know that many companies will match the contribution you make?  Matching funds from participating companies are a great way to multiply the impact of your pledge raising efforts!  Visit our Companies page to see a list of participating companies.  Your donation will go twice as far!

If you are employed by one of the companies on this list, visit your HR department and complete the matching gift form.  If the company you work for is not on the list, it might have a matching gift program that we are not aware of.  Please ask your HR department about a matching gift program.  This simple step may double your contribution.

Matching fund requests should be made through your company's matching gift program.  Gift verification paperwork may be sent to:

Puget Sound Race for the Cure
 1900 N Northlake Way, Ste 135
 Seattle, WA 98103

In order for gifts to credit Race totals, please ensure matching gifts are clearly labeled Puget Sound Race for the Cure Matching gift funds that are received after the Race (postmarked by June 30, 2008) will be added to individual pledge totals.  We will continue to verify and receive matching gifts after June 30.  Matching Gifts verified after June 30 will be counted as general Race donations and not credited to any individual participant or team.

To be eligible for fundraising prizes, all donations (including corporate matching funds) must be turned in by June 30, 2008. You may opt out of your pledge prize at any time by emailing race2008@pskomen.org
